Dr. Challenger of Florida State University will present a guest lecture, "Eclipsing Boundaries: Visual Culture and Science in Early Modern Europe," on April 25th at 6 p.m. in the Sharp Museum auditorium.
Dr. Alexandra Challenger studies the art and visual culture of early modern Europe (1400-1600) with an emphasis on Germany. She focuses on the emergence of printed images within the context of scientific publishing and the contributions of artists to the development of printing. She currently works as a reference associate at Florida State University’s Special Collections and Archives.

400+ students are expected to participate in the chalk art competition this year. Students will be asked to create artwork which explores eclipse-related imagery. This year, in honor of the solar eclipse, the competition has been renamed: The CHALK-ECLIPSE!

Love at the Glove
This year, Love at the Glove will occur Friday, February 16 from 6:00 pm-9:30 pm. At the event, there will be live drag performances of adaptations of SIU professor Rafael Frumkin's book. A $5 entry fee includes one free artwork submission, with additional submissions of $5 each. Artists are responsible for the installation of their own adult-themed artwork, which can be dropped off Feb12-15, M 3-6:00 PM; T 5-7:00 PM; W 12-2:00 PM; Th 5-7:00 PM. The event is open to students, faculty, the local community, and visiting artists.
Proceeds from the door and submission fees benefit "Critical Forum," a SoAD student group. Between 50-100 works of art will be displayed depending on the scale. Join us for food, drinks, an open mic and, of course, ART! Be aware there will be adult themes in the exhibition.
2023 SENIOR EXHIBITION
The 2023 Fall Senior Exhibition will feature the creative work of graduating seniors. The group exhibition will be viewable in the Vergette Gallery, located in the Allynn Building, between 12 pm and 4 pm, December 10th through the 15th. A public reception will be held on Saturday, December 12th, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, following the commencement ceremony.
